The Barro Negro pottery is made in one state in Mexico - Oaxaca.  This pottery is not painted...it is made from a dark clay mined from the Sierra Madres, then fired in an underground kiln at very high temps to give it that dark, smoky hue.  This is a traditional pottery which dates back 2500 years.  Vi Bella is passionate about keeping traditional crafting alive by supporting the artisans who have been taught these skills from the generations that came before them.
